Standard, 2019

American Standard was shuttered in 2007. Eleven years later, my father (a former employee) and I returned to the Tiffin, Ohio, plant for the first time. I examine familial connections to land, generational lapse and inherited circumstances, by photographing the space. Standard is a collaboration with my father that explores the passing of industrial America’s “ideal” moment. We have become the archeologists of our own histories by excavating and recording the remnants of our industrial past.
